This article walks you through installing the Worknet Slack Agent and connecting it to your Worknet environment.
Step 1: Install the Worknet Slack Agent in Slack
The Worknet Slack Agent is not yet listed in the Slack App Marketplace. It must be added directly.
Install the Worknet Slack Agent using the provided installation link.
Add the app to one or more Slack channels where you want it to operate.
Confirm that the app appears as a member of the selected channels.
💡 You can add the agent to multiple channels depending on where you want Worknet to listen and respond.
Step 2: Establish the Worknet–Slack Connection
Next, connect Slack to Worknet from the Worknet Admin.
In Worknet Admin, navigate to Connections.
Click Add New Connection.
Select Slack.
Connection Settings
Fill in the following fields:
Connection Name
Example:Slack Agent-
App ID
A0AAX89HDRC Slack Team ID
Enter your Slack workspace (team) ID.
Click Save.
Once saved, verify that the connection appears in the list with a green checkmark, indicating a successful connection.
Step 3: Create the Worknet Slack App
Now create a Worknet app that uses the Slack connection.
In Worknet Admin, navigate to Apps.
Click Create App.
Choose App Type: Slack.
App Configuration
Complete the following fields:
App ID
Use the same App ID used in the Slack connection.Team ID
Use the same Slack Team ID used in the Slack connection.Connection
Select the Slack connection you just created.Slack Channels
Specify the Slack channels this app should work in.
💡 You can create multiple Worknet Slack apps, each connected to different channels, behaviors, or data scopes.
Step 3.1: Fine-Tune the Slack App Behavior
After creating the Slack app, you can fine-tune how it responds to messages in Slack.
Navigate to:
Worknet Admin → App → Chat Bot UI
Auto Reply Mode
Controls when the Slack agent automatically responds to messages.
None
The agent responds only when explicitly mentioned using@<app-name>.
Use this mode when you want full control and minimal noise in the channel.First in Thread
The agent automatically responds to the first message in a Slack thread, without requiring an @mention.
This is useful when threads represent questions or issues that should be handled by the agent by default.Any Message
The agent automatically responds to any message in the selected channels.
Use this mode for highly controlled channels where the agent should actively participate in all conversations.
Auto Reply Skipping
When enabled, the agent will skip sending a reply if no answer is generated.
This prevents empty or low-value responses in Slack.
Publish As Public
When enabled, AI responses are published as public messages in the channel.
When disabled, responses will be posted as ephemeral messages.
Zendesk Deflection
Enable this option to automatically create a Zendesk ticket when the agent cannot find an answer.
This ensures that unanswered questions are escalated to human support without manual intervention.
Feedback Configuration
You can customize how feedback is collected after each response:
Ask For Feedback Text
Example:
Was this answer helpful?Positive Button Text
Example:
Yes, thank you!Negative Button Text
Example:
No, I need support
Clicking the negative option can trigger escalation, human intervention, or ticket creation.
Best Practice
Create multiple Slack apps to:
Apply different auto-reply behaviors per channel
Control data access and scope
Customize escalation and feedback flows
This allows you to safely deploy proactive behavior in some channels while keeping others fully manual.
You’re Done 🎉
The Worknet Slack Agent is now installed, connected, and ready to operate in your selected Slack channels.
If you need help configuring behaviors, permissions, or multiple Slack apps, refer to the advanced configuration guides or contact Worknet support.
